Santiago del Estero authorities investigate abandoned aircraft

Federal authorities in Santiago del Estero are investigating the discovery of an abandoned aircraft in a remote wetland area near Los Porongos. The plane was located in a difficult-to-access rural sector, requiring aerial support to reach the site. Two pilots were reportedly rescued from the location via helicopter.

Investigators are examining potential links to drug trafficking due to several irregularities. While no narcotics were found inside the aircraft, officials discovered large fuel canisters, food remains, and large plastic sheeting. A significant point of interest is the conflicting identification of the plane: the exterior displayed an Argentine registration (LV-JIR), while the interior featured a Bolivian registration (CP-3889). Additionally, the engine number appears to have been tampered with.

Federal Judge Guillermo Molinari is leading the inquiry to determine the aircraft's true origin and the circumstances of its arrival in the region. The National Gendarmerie and provincial police have secured the perimeter as forensic experts conduct their analysis.
