Santiago del Estero records 208 financing requests after governor's announcement

The provincial Council of Economic and Social recorded 208 financing queries from private‑sector companies and SMEs across Santiago del Estero as of July 20, 2026. The surge followed joint announcements by Governor Elías Suárez and Ignacio Lamothe, secretary‑general of the Federal Investment Council (CFI). Average amount requested per query was about $104 million, with the largest individual requests reaching $500 million.

The commercial sector led with 76 queries (36.5% of total), followed by services (54) and agriculture (29). Agriculture, livestock and farming together demanded the highest funding amount – roughly $4.36 billion – with construction next at about $3.9 billion and gastronomy at $2.81 billion. Most requests aim to purchase fixed assets such as machinery, expand facilities, or cover working capital, and a smaller share targets energy and solar projects.
