Santiago do Cacém awards €3.6 m housing project in Cercal do Alentejo

The municipal council of Santiago do Cacém approved on 8 May the award of a construction contract to António Saraiva e Filhos, Lda. for a €3,692,404 multifamily building with 24 rental units in Cercal do Alentejo. The development is part of the municipality’s Local Housing Strategy and the “1.º Direito” programme established by Decree‑Law 37/2018, aiming to provide affordable rent‑controlled homes below market rates.

The project is one of two identical buildings being built in the district – the other in Vila Nova de Santo André – bringing the total number of new homes to 48 and the overall budget for both works to about €7.2 million.
