Santiago do Cacém increases annual funding for firefighter associations

The Santiago do Cacém Municipal Council has approved an increase in annual financial support for the municipality’s four humanitarian firefighter associations. Under the new agreement, each corporation will receive 40,000 euros per year, representing a 10,000 euro increase from the previous annual allocation of 30,000 euros.

This decision results in a total municipal investment of 160,000 euros per year for the four associations. The funds are intended to support investments in vehicles, equipment, and other essential operational needs. Mayor Bruno Gonçalves Pereira stated that the municipality is working to improve working conditions for firefighters and is exploring further measures, such as the creation of a ‘Firefighter Card’ and a ‘Firefighter Statute’ to bolster support.
