Santiago firefighters rescue man from Hermanos Patiño Bridge

Firefighters from the Santiago Fire Department rescued a man from the Hermanos Patiño Bridge for the third time this year. The emergency, reported via the 911 emergency system, lasted from 11:05 p.m. until 12:45 a.m.

To complete the rescue, emergency responders utilized a ladder truck and two specialized high-altitude technicians. Once the man was safely brought down, he was stabilized and handed over to the National Police for further processing.

Alex Torres, representing the fire department, noted that the individual has been involved in three similar incidents during the current year. Torres urged the man's family to seek professional mental health support to prevent future life-threatening situations. Additionally, Torres expressed regret regarding the behavior of some bystanders who gathered under the bridge and shouted at the man to jump during the operation.
