Santiago Giménez debuts for FC Porto in victory over Moreirense
Mexican striker Santiago Giménez made his official debut for FC Porto during their 2-1 victory over Moreirense in the fifth round of the Primeira Liga. Entering the match in the 74th or 75th minute as a substitute for André Silva, Giménez showed immediate intent, recording two shots on target and several key defensive actions. While he did not score, his performance drew positive reactions from fans regarding his aggressive attacking style.
FC Porto manager Francesco Farioli noted that while Giménez showed motivation, he needs to work on his physical condition following a difficult summer involving injury and a lack of playing time at AC Milan. The team remains at the top of the league standings with five consecutive wins.
Additionally, Giménez is registered with Italian nationality in the Liga Portugal. This is an administrative decision based on his family ancestry, allowing him to play as an EU citizen and avoid non-EU player quotas. This registration does not affect his status as a Mexican international.
