Santiago Giménez joins FC Porto on loan from AC Milan

Mexican striker Santiago Giménez has officially joined FC Porto on loan from AC Milan for the 2026-27 season. The transfer agreement includes an option to buy set at approximately 18 million euros, which could rise to 20 million euros including performance-based bonuses. Under certain sporting conditions, this option may become a mandatory purchase.

Giménez, nicknamed ‘El Bebote’, seeks to revitalize his career in Portugal after a challenging period in Italy. During his time with AC Milan, which began in February 2025, he recorded seven goals and six assists in 37 appearances. His tenure in Serie A was hampered by injuries and increased competition for playing time.

Upon his arrival at Porto, Giménez selected the number 29 jersey, a number he previously wore during his professional debut with Cruz Azul and his successful stint with Feyenoord. He expressed his gratitude to the Milan supporters on social media, stating, ‘It was a dream come true to play for Milan and share this period with you.’
