Santiago Giménez needs to regain confidence, says Porto manager
FC Porto manager Francesco Farioli has called for support for striker Santiago Giménez, stating the Mexican international needs to “recover confidence in his qualities” and find peace amidst significant media pressure, particularly from Latin American outlets.
Giménez, who joined Porto on loan from AC Milan, has struggled to secure a starting position this season despite scoring a penalty against Casa Pia. Following a recent international break where he played 128 minutes for the Mexican national team under Rafa Márquez, Farioli noted that while the player missed club training sessions, the playing time was positive for his development.
The coach emphasized the importance of placing the 25-year-old in a “bubble” with his teammates and coaching staff to help him focus on his performance. Giménez is expected to potentially see minutes in Porto’s upcoming match against Marítimo.
