Santiago officials respond to TikToker confrontation in Plaza de Armas

A confrontation involving TikTok creator Franko ‘El Kofran’ Lagos in Santiago’s Plaza de Armas has sparked debate regarding public recording and security. The influencer reported being confronted and effectively expelled from the area by foreign nationals after being accused of filming them without consent. According to the creator, the tension escalated when individuals attempted to take his phone during a live stream.

Arturo Urrutia, the Director of Municipal Security for Santiago, suggested that the influencer’s notoriety may have played a role in the incident, noting that being a well-known figure can attract unwanted attention. Urrutia also addressed the environment of the Plaza de Armas, stating that while the area is frequented by individuals engaged in sexual encounters, such activities are not currently penalized by municipal ordinance.

While the influencer claimed he was expelled, municipal authorities disputed this version of events. Mayor Mario Desbordes announced that the municipality intends to file a lawsuit, alleging the presence of an ‘illicit association’ operating within the Plaza de Armas.
