Healthcare infrastructure improvements announced in Paraguay and Dominican Republic
In Paraguay, President Santiago Peña and First Lady Leticia Ocampos inspected healthcare improvements at the National Cancer Institute (Incán) and the Itauguá National Hospital. At Incán, officials verified progress on hospital renovations and the construction of a sanitary park designed to optimize medicine inventory and ensure timely delivery to oncology patients. Additionally, a new shelter for patients' families, funded by Itaipú Binacional, was inaugurated in Itauguá. Peña noted that the government has tripled the number of mammography machines nationwide to facilitate early cancer detection.
In the Dominican Republic, the National Health Service (SNS) inaugurated a renovated clinical and diagnostic center in Cotuí and delivered a mammograph to Villa La Mata. The SNS also activated a modern blood bank at the Inmaculada Concepción Provincial Hospital in Sánchez Ramírez. These investments, led by Executive Director Julio César Landrón, aim to strengthen the public health network through improved infrastructure and specialized diagnostic access.
