Santiago police kill suspect linked to multiple robberies

A man identified as Wideiso Cris, known as ‘El Menor’, died following a shootout with the National Police in the La Rotonda sector of Jacagua, Santiago. The incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday when agents from the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) attempted to arrest him.

Authorities stated that Cris allegedly opened fire on the patrol, prompting officers to return fire. He was transported to a medical center where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police recovered an unregistered pistol at the scene that was reportedly used to attack the agents.

Cris was wanted for several crimes, including aggravated robbery, armed robbery, and motorcycle theft in various sectors of Santiago, such as Los Salados and Ensanche Libertad. He was also a suspect in the robbery of a nurse earlier that same morning. Police are currently searching for two other individuals believed to be accomplices in the morning robbery.
