Santiago police officer wounds two suspects during robbery attempt

Two suspects were wounded during an attempted robbery of a Dominican National Police corporal in Santiago de los Caballeros. The incident occurred on Estrella Sadhala Avenue around 9:00 PM when the officer, who was off-duty and traveling by motorcycle, was intercepted by two individuals.

The suspects allegedly used a firearm to rob the officer of his mobile phone and cash. In response to the aggression, the officer discharged his weapon, striking both assailants. The suspects fled the scene and later sought medical attention at a health center.

Authorities identified the wounded individuals as 21-year-old Delvis Diwary González Roa and a Haitian national identified as Wesley. During a search at the medical facility, police recovered the stolen mobile phone from González Roa. Investigators also seized two coats, two balaclavas, and a motorcycle that had been reported stolen. The National Police are continuing investigations to determine the origin of the firearm used in the crime.
