Santiago province faces call for educational emergency

The Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) political bloc has called on the government to declare an educational emergency in the province of Santiago, Dominican Republic. José David Báez, spokesperson for the FP deputies, cited several critical issues affecting the region, including a lack of available spots, classroom overcrowding, deteriorating school facilities, and stalled construction projects.

A primary example cited is the Rafaela Jiminián de Cruz school, which has been out of service for 16 months due to unfinished intervention works. This delay has prevented 780 students from beginning their school year. Báez criticized the current administration's management, labeling the situation as “improvisation” rather than planning, and challenged provincial governor Rosa Santos to release technical studies regarding the school's structural conditions.
