Latin American regions face infrastructure and water management challenges

Various regions across Latin America are addressing critical infrastructure and environmental challenges. In Chile, residents of San Pedro de la Paz are demanding permanent solutions for deteriorating roads caused by new construction, while in the Ranco province, nearly 3 billion pesos are being invested in rural potable water projects. Additionally, the Río Maipo wetland is being utilized as a living classroom for over 4,300 students to promote environmental education.

In Argentina, municipal authorities in Ushuaia have approved the paving of 25 blocks of De Los Ñires street, and in Comodoro Rivadavia, a 15.8 billion peso investment is underway to construct a new storm drain system to address long-standing drainage issues. Meanwhile, in Tucumán, Sociedad Aguas del Tucumán is repairing a main collector to manage sewage and prevent blockages caused by flooding.

In the Dominican Republic, community assemblies in Arroyo Hondo have highlighted urgent concerns regarding deteriorating drainage systems, landslides, and a lack of public spaces. These reports emphasize a widespread need for improved urban maintenance and infrastructure resilience.
