Santiago’s Mexican Restaurant Boom Highlights Five Authentic Taquerías

A surge of Mexican eateries has enriched Santiago’s dining scene. Five venues—Ay Lupita in Bellavista and Barrio Italia, Güeros on Terrazas San Cristóbal, Taquería El Ranchero in Vitacura, and two others—offer traditional tacos, margaritas and seasonal dishes made with corn tortillas, house‑made salsas and a range of meats. Chef Víctor Aguilar of Güeros, originally from Oaxaca, brings authentic street‑food flavors and recently received a seal from the Mexican Embassy in Chile. The restaurants combine colorful décor, live music and neighborhood locations such as Constitución 143 in Providencia and Constitución 241 in Bellavista, catering to locals seeking genuine Mexican cuisine.
