Santo André details strategies to attract businesses and boost employment
Santo André is implementing specific strategies to attract and retain businesses to foster economic development and formal job creation. Evandro Banzato, the Secretary of Development and Job Generation, reported that the city has tripled its number of registered companies over the last decade, growing from 56,000 to 132,000 CNPJs.
The municipal strategy focuses on reducing bureaucracy, increasing competitiveness, and integrating companies into the local Technology Park to provide access to development resources. The city is also recognized by the Associação Brasileira de Franchising (ABF) as one of the top 30 cities in Brazil for attracting new franchises.
To support this growth, the city has launched infrastructure programs such as ‘Meu Bairro Novo’, which allocates R$ 100 million for the revitalization of 200 km of roads by 2028, and ‘Novo Centro’, aimed at modernizing the urban center.
