Santo Antônio do Retiro recognized for fiscal transparency excellence

The municipality of Santo Antônio do Retiro, located in northern Minas Gerais, Brazil, has received recognition from the National Treasury Secretariat (STN) for its high-quality fiscal and accounting information. With a population of approximately 6,629 residents, the town achieved a score of 99.878% in the Siconfi Ranking of Accounting and Fiscal Information Quality, organized by the Ministry of Finance.

This performance earned the municipality an ‘A’ grade and a quality seal. Santo Antônio do Retiro ranked 13th nationally and achieved the best classification in the Southeast region among municipalities with up to 100,000 inhabitants. Within the state of Minas Gerais, it recorded the second-best performance, trailing only the capital, Belo Horizonte.

HLH Serviços e Tecnologia, the firm that provided consultancy to the municipality, noted that the achievement demonstrates that small administrations can provide high levels of transparency regardless of economic robustness or high tax revenue.
