Santo António: O Casamenteiro de Lisboa featured at Festival do Rio

The Portuguese comedy ‘Santo António: O Casamenteiro de Lisboa’ was featured at the Festival do Rio. The film follows two employees, Carmo and Valentim, who work at the Lisbon City Council helping to organize weddings at the Saint Anthony parish.

To combat a decline in church weddings and protect the parish from being taken over by a French company, the characters attempt to modernize the marriage process. The film explores the tension between European traditions and the modern, globalized world.
