Santo Domingo Metro hosts vaping prevention campaigns

The National Drug Council (CND), in partnership with the Metropolitan Transport Company (EMT), conducted three prevention sessions at various stations of the Santo Domingo Metro to educate passengers on the risks of electronic cigarette use.

Under the slogan ‘Vaping is not a game,’ the initiative focused on the importance of family involvement in maintaining a healthy and informed youth. The activities, held in high-traffic areas, included the distribution of educational materials and artistic performances by social activist and rapper Jhon Wayne RD, who used music and improvisation to convey prevention messages.

Alejandro Abreu, president of the CND, emphasized that vaping poses a real risk to young people and stated that ‘the responsible action of parents is the first line of defense.’ The campaign aims to utilize mass transit spaces as venues for orientation and education to reach thousands of Dominican families.
