INTRANT establishes commission to review transport files in Dominican Republic
Juan Manuel Méndez García, executive director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) in the Dominican Republic, has announced the creation of a commission to review pending files from transport organizations. The initiative aims to verify the legality of various files and find solutions for cases that can be regularized. As a precaution, Méndez García has suspended the signing of certain documents until the commission completes its review.
Méndez García also emphasized a zero-tolerance policy regarding improper payments or undue fees for the processing of licenses and permits, stating that all procedures must follow established institutional channels.
In related developments, Alfredo Pulinario Mariot, president of the National Movement of Transport Drivers (Mochotran), has called on INTRANT to accelerate the bidding process for new transport corridors to improve public transit efficiency and reduce the presence of irregular vehicles. Additionally, the Trust for the Development of the Mass Transit System (Fitram) is working on a financial reprogramming to secure resources for the construction of the Santo Domingo Monorail.
