Santo Domingo Municipality recognized for Climate Change Action Plan

The Undersecretary of the Environment, José Ignacio Vial, and the Regional Minister of the Valparaíso Region, Francisca Garay, presented a formal recognition to the Municipality of Santo Domingo. The award was presented at the Río Maipo Wetland Sanctuary in recognition of the municipality's approval of its Communal Climate Change Action Plan (PACCC).

The PACCC serves as a planning instrument that allows municipalities to define specific mitigation and adaptation measures tailored to the unique needs and vulnerabilities of their local territories. During the ceremony, Undersecretary Vial emphasized that municipalities are essential to climate change management due to their understanding of local needs.

Additionally, the iNaturalist platform was launched during the event as a new tool for community-based biodiversity monitoring.
