Santo Domingo starts 7,600 new sanitation connections in Villa Consuelo
The Director of the Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD), engineer Fellito Suberví, inaugurated work to replace and expand the sanitary sewer network in the Villa Consuelo district. The project will install 29,220 metres of new PVC pipe and build 7,600 household connections, benefiting more than 40,000 residents.
The upgrade is part of a broader sanitation‑renovation programme covering San Carlos, Villa Juana, Villas Agrícolas and Villa Francisca, with an overall budget of roughly RD 900 million. In Villa Consuelo alone, the investment exceeds RD 300 million and includes 110 brick sanitary registers, 7,600 m² of sidewalks, and 56,956 m² of asphalt paving. Work will be staged to limit traffic disruption while other water‑supply projects continue across the Greater Santo Domingo area.
