Santo Dominique Capital presents investment plan to Santos FC
Representatives from Santo Dominique Capital (SDC) Sports met with members of the Santos FC Deliberative Council to present an investment plan for the club. The U.S.-based group detailed its investment philosophy, executive profiles, and strategies for professional football, youth categories, and brand management.
While a formal purchase proposal has not yet been submitted, the due diligence process is reportedly in its final stages. For a majority stake transaction to proceed, Santos must amend its social statutes. Currently, the club's regulations limit investor participation to 49%, but SDC aims to acquire up to 80% of the football department.
The proposed statutory changes require approval from both the Deliberative Council and a General Assembly of members. The move faces internal resistance; in August, 37 councilors signed a note opposing the SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol) project, citing concerns over the club's debt, which has exceeded R$ 1 billion, and questioning the timing of the proposal under current management.
