Santo Stefano di Camastra honors Salvo D’Acquisto

Santo Stefano di Camastra held a ceremony dedicated to the ‘Dono della Vita’ (Gift of Life), featuring a tribute to Vice Brigadier Salvo D’Acquisto. D’Acquisto, a recipient of the Gold Medal for Military Valor, was recently proclaimed ‘Venerable’ by Pope Francis on February 25, 2025.

The event was organized by the local section of the Associazione Nazionale Carabinieri with municipal patronage. It was attended by various institutional figures, including the Prefect of Messina, Cosima Di Stani, the Commander of the Carabinieri Legion of Sicily, Division General Ubaldo Del Monaco, and the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri of Messina, Colonel Lucio Arcidiacono. Other attendees included the Mayor of Santo Stefano di Camastra, Francesco Re, several mayors from the Nebrodi area, and MEP Giuseppe Antoci.

The commemoration began with a mass at the Church of San Nicolò di Bari and concluded in Piazza Belvedere, where officials laid a laurel wreath at the fallen monument to honor military and civilian personnel who died during peacekeeping missions.
