Regional politician Dino Pepe repeatedly warned of department closures and a presumed downsizing of the Sant'Omero Hospital in Abruzzo. Official data, however, show the facility’s economic production reaching about €17.5 million in 2024, up from the previous year, with continued growth into 2025.

The figures confirm that the hospital remains an efficient and strategic healthcare provider for the Val Vibrata area. The ASL Teramo management and the Abruzzo regional authorities were credited for sustaining and strengthening services, countering Pepe’s alarmist narrative.

Analysts note that the hospital’s performance reflects normal operational results rather than any imminent reduction, and calls for the politician to acknowledge the discrepancy between his statements and the documented data.
