Santorini features unique volcanic cuisine and caldera hiking

Santorini offers diverse experiences ranging from its unique volcanic culinary traditions to its dramatic geological landscapes. The island’s arid climate and nutrient-dense volcanic soil produce distinct local ingredients, such as Santorini cherry tomatoes, mineral-rich fava, and white eggplants, which are central to Cycladic cuisine.

Visitors can also explore the island’s volcanic history on foot, particularly via the Fira to Oia caldera trail. This 10.5km route follows the rim of the caldera, providing views of the Aegean Sea and exposed layers of lava and volcanic deposits shaped by historical eruptions.
