Santos Escobar adopts Romeo Malverde persona following WWE release

Former WWE wrestler Santos Escobar, also known as Jorge Bolly, has reflected on his departure from the company, describing the experience as “heartbreaking.” Escobar was released during WWE’s post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts, despite having signed a new contract in late 2025.

Moving forward, he has adopted the new persona “Romeo Malverde.” Escobar stated that his time in WWE provided invaluable lessons from industry veterans, including Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Terry Taylor, Fit Finlay, and AJ Styles. He noted that the knowledge gained has made him a more “mature and intelligent superstar” as he prepares for his next chapter in professional wrestling.
