Santos faces potential transfer ban over R$ 1.2 million dispute
Santos FC is facing a new financial dispute after being summoned by Coritiba to the National Agency for Regulation and Sustainability of Football (ANRESF). The disagreement involves approximately R$ 1.2 million related to a showcase fee from the transfer of right-back JP Chermont to Sharjah FC in the United Arab Emirates.
The two clubs disagree on the payment terms. Coritiba is seeking immediate payment, while Santos claims the disbursement is contingent upon specific player performance milestones. Santos is reportedly exploring the possibility of offsetting this debt using credits it holds against Coritiba.
This incident adds to the existing financial pressures and administrative challenges facing Santos, which has previously dealt with various financial disputes and player registration penalties.
