Santos FC faces potential sanctions over Cruzeiro debt
Santos FC faces potential legal and financial sanctions following a dispute with Cruzeiro Esporte Clube regarding the player Zé Ivaldo. Cruzeiro has initiated action through the CBF National Chamber of Dispute Resolution (CNRD) over an unpaid debt of approximately US$ 1 million.
The dispute stems from a contract clause requiring Santos to purchase the defender after he met specific appearance milestones. While the player is currently on loan to Remo, he remains under contract with Santos until 2028.
In addition to the Cruzeiro claim, Santos is already facing a possible transfer ban following a separate ruling by the CNRD requiring a payment of R$ 18.6 million to Cuiabá for the player Joaquim. To expedite the process, Cruzeiro intends to report the club to the National Agency for Football Sustainability and Regulation (ANRESF) to address financial fair play compliance.
