Santos FC clears three transfer bans but faces four remaining FIFA sanctions
Santos FC has successfully cleared three FIFA transfer bans by paying approximately R$ 946,000 in debts related to the solidarity mechanism for players João Basso, Benjamín Rollheiser, and Álvaro Barreal. Despite this, the club remains under four active transfer bans that prevent the registration of new players.
These remaining sanctions stem from unpaid debts exceeding R$ 15 million owed to former coach Pedro Caixinha and his technical staff, including José Pratas, Pedro Malta, and José Belman. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld these decisions.
Additionally, Santos faces the threat of an eighth transfer ban. The CAS has confirmed a FIFA decision requiring the club to pay approximately R$ 2.2 million to the Qatari club Al-Markhiya regarding the loan of attacker Yusupha Njie. The club has acknowledged the debt but cited financial difficulties.
