Santos FC notified by MP-SP over training center land purchase

The Public Ministry of São Paulo (MP-SP) has notified Santos Futebol Clube regarding its acquisition of a 700,000-square-meter plot in São Vicente intended for a new youth training center. The notification also includes the municipality of São Vicente and Saint-Gobain, the former owner of the land and a current sponsor of the club.

Santos reported the purchase price as R$ 6,932,560.21, to be settled through commercial assets and advertising exchanges. The MP-SP has granted ten days for all involved parties to provide clarifications. A primary concern involves the land's location, which includes areas designated as Permanent Preservation Areas (APP), where structural interventions are legally restricted.

An environmental impact study is scheduled for completion by April 2027. Following this, the club must apply for environmental licensing through CETESB to determine the specific percentage of the area available for construction. São Vicente Mayor Kayo Amado expressed optimism, stating that the club intends to respect environmental limits and that Saint-Gobain had already settled its municipal tax debts prior to the transaction.
