Santos FC seeks to retain Gabigol for 2027 season

Santos FC has expressed interest in retaining striker Gabigol for the 2027 season, though his future remains uncertain. The player is currently on loan at Santos until the end of this year, but his permanent contract is held by Cruzeiro until December 2028.

Santos President Marcelo Teixeira stated that the club intends to avoid immediate negotiations to ensure the player remains focused on the current season. Any potential deal for 2027, whether through a new loan or a permanent transfer, will require direct negotiations with Cruzeiro once the Brazilian Championship concludes.

Gabigol has seen significant performance improvements during his tenure at Santos under manager Cuca, recording 23 goals and nine assists in 43 matches during 2026. Teixeira noted that the player's high performance was anticipated by Cruzeiro when the loan was initially arranged.
