Santos FC seeks to retain Gabigol for next season

Santos FC President Marcelo Teixeira has expressed the club's intention to negotiate the continued presence of striker Gabigol for the upcoming season. Gabigol is currently on loan from Cruzeiro until the end of 2026, with his parent club holding a contract through 2028.

The interest in retaining the player follows a decisive performance in the Campeonato Brasileiro, where Gabigol scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over São Paulo. While the player has regained a central role in the squad, Teixeira noted that negotiations with Cruzeiro must be handled with caution and will take place at an appropriate time.

Any permanent transfer or extension of the loan will require a formal agreement between Santos and Cruzeiro, particularly regarding the financial terms involved.
