Santos-Guarujá tunnel project to open community service office

The Santos Port Authority (APS) and TSG Concessionária S.A. have announced the establishment of a social service office to support the Santos-Guarujá tunnel project. Located on Rua Dr. Esmeraldo Soares Tarquínio in the Macuco neighborhood of Santos, the office is expected to begin operations within 30 days.

The facility aims to facilitate communication between the project developers and the local population by addressing inquiries, providing project orientations, and managing community demands. A similar service center is planned for the left bank in Guarujá, though a date has not yet been set.

The announcement comes amid ongoing discussions regarding expropriations in the Macuco area. The Public Ministry has set a 30-day deadline for TSG to present a removal schedule and maintain a service station to guide families affected by the construction. The project, which involves a 1.5 km immersed tunnel under the Port of Santos channel, is a long-standing infrastructure demand for the Baixada Santista region.
