Santos hosts 9th Brazilian Women's Outrigger Canoe Festival
The 9th Brazilian Women's Ka. Ora Outrigger Canoe Festival will take place in Santos, Brazil, at Praia da Aparecida. The event, held from 8:00 to 13:00, celebrates female participation in the sport and honors women affected by breast cancer.
Competition categories include the Wahine category, featuring 14 teams participating in a 4-kilometer race, and the Ka. Ora category, where 10 participants from the Ka. Ora Project will compete in a 400-meter course. The festival also marks the 10th anniversary of the Ka. Ora Project, an initiative that provides free physical, emotional, cognitive, and social rehabilitation for over 110 women in the Baixada Santista region through outrigger canoeing and multidisciplinary support.
The event is organized by Canoa Brasil with supervision from the Brazilian Outrigger Canoe Association (ABRACHA) and support from the Liga Santista de Va’a and the Santos Sports Secretariat.
