Santos hosts cultural festivals and celebrations for holiday weekend
Santos is hosting a variety of cultural activities and festivals during the long holiday weekend for Brazil's Independence Day.
In the historic center, the Mostra Japão event is taking place at Parque Valongo. The festival celebrates the historical ties between the Baixada Santista region and Japanese immigration, featuring free attractions such as Taiko drum performances, Shishimai lion dances, cultural workshops, and a cosplay contest.
Other local highlights include the 'Ouro Negro e o Dragão' exhibition at the Museu do Café, which explores China's role as a major importer of Brazilian coffee. Additionally, the city will observe the Festa de Nossa Senhora do Monte Serrat with religious ceremonies, and the Museu do Porto de Santos is holding special programming to celebrate its 32nd anniversary throughout September.
