Santos negotiates financial relief through JP Chermont sale

Santos FC has reached an agreement with Coritiba to manage the financial proceeds from the sale of right-back JP Chermont to Sharjah FC in the United Arab Emirates. The deal is valued at approximately US$ 2.5 million (R$ 12.9 million) upfront, with an additional US$ 1 million contingent on performance milestones.

To alleviate immediate liquidity issues, Santos has negotiated a delay in payments to Coritiba and Chermont’s staff. These payments, which include the 10% sell-on fee due to Coritiba and the player's 15% share, will only be settled once specific performance targets are met at the new club.

The influx of cash is intended to help Santos address its current financial crisis, specifically to settle overdue image rights payments for its squad, which are currently two months in arrears. The club is managing a monthly payroll of approximately R$ 30 million.
