Boca Juniors defeats Deportivo Recoleta 3-1 in Copa Sudamericana
In the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana round of 16, Boca Juniors secured a 3-1 comeback victory against Paraguay's Deportivo Recoleta at the Estadio Tomás Adolfo Ducó. Recoleta took an early lead in the 5th minute through Pedro Ríos, but the momentum shifted significantly in the first half's final moments when Wilfrido Báez was sent off following a VAR review.
Boca Juniors capitalized on the numerical advantage in the second half. Following the introduction of Sebastián Villa, Boca scored three goals in quick succession: Santiago Ascacíbar (48'), Milton Delgado (50'), and Leonel Flores (61'). Recoleta's situation worsened when Dairon Mosquera was also sent off, leaving them with nine players.
In separate Copa Libertadores action, Estudiantes de La Plata and Universidad Católica played to a 1-1 draw, leaving the series open for the second leg in Santiago. Meanwhile, Fluminense and Independiente Rivadavia also finished in a 0-0 stalemate at the Maracanã.
