Santuario de Las Tres Cruces blessed at Cerro Angola
The Santuario de Las Tres Cruces, located at the summit of Cerro Angola, has been officially blessed during a Thanksgiving Eucharist. The ceremony was led by Monsignor Santiago Rodríguez, Bishop of the Diocese of San Pedro de Macorís, alongside Emeritus Bishop Nicanor Peña and several priests.
Conceived by Camelia Rodríguez and designed by architect Miguel Jiménez, the sanctuary features structures made of steel and mahogany wood with Victorian-style elements. The site includes a trail with 10 themed stations acting as gardens that represent various religious mysteries.
The project is part of the ‘Camino del Cerro’ initiative, which aims to integrate spiritual practice with environmental conservation and ecotourism. The sanctuary honors the legacy of Manuel Arsenio Ureña and Camelia Rodríguez, who advocated for the protection of the mountains and forest to preserve local water sources.
