Santubong residents receive Class B2 driving licence assistance
A total of 616 residents from the P193 Santubong parliamentary constituency have received assistance to obtain Class B2 motorcycle driving licences. The initiative, aimed at improving socioeconomic mobility, was presented during a ceremony at Juma’ani Hall, Wisma SABATI, in Kuching.
Officiated by Datuk Seri Hajah Nancy Shukri, the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and Member of Parliament for Santubong, the programme supported eligible candidates who successfully passed the required theoretical and practical examinations set by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak. The assistance was designed to reduce the financial burden on participants, with the cost of the licence being reduced to RM250.
Minister Nancy Shukri emphasized that the licences should be used to facilitate employment, support families, and assist with daily tasks such as transporting elderly parents for medical treatment. She also cautioned recipients against misusing their licences for illegal activities, such as street racing or dangerous driving.
