Santurtzi Mayor Itziar Carrocera reports online threats and harassment

Itziar Carrocera, the mayor of Santurtzi, has filed a complaint with the Ertzaintza following a series of insults, threats, and coercion directed at her on social media. The most severe incident involved an image of her photograph with a red target drawn over her face, accompanied by a message in Basque that characterized the local police as “dirty and murderous.”

Political parties including PNV, EH Bildu, PSE, Elkarrekin Podemos, and PP have issued unanimous condemnations of the harassment. The local government has expressed solidarity with the mayor, distinguishing between legitimate democratic debate and illegal intimidation.
