SANU to open 40th second home location on Awaji Island

SANU, a provider of membership-based second home services, has announced the opening of its 40th location, ‘SANU 2nd Home Awaji Island 1st’, in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, on October 1, 2026. Developed in partnership with Nippon Steel Kowa Real Estate, this facility marks the company’s first new construction-based location in the Kansai region.

The facility features the ‘RAY’ architectural model designed by Keiji Ashizawa, which focuses on the interplay of natural light. Each unit is equipped with a private sauna and a semi-open-air bath overlooking the sea. To enhance the sensory experience, the rooms will feature incense by artist Kan Izumi of Olfactive Studio Ne, drawing on the local incense-making culture of Awaji Island.

Designed to encourage a lifestyle of living with nature, the location offers fully equipped kitchens to allow guests to utilize local produce from the island, which boasts a food self-sufficiency rate of over 100%.
