Sanxenxo pub sealed after defying municipal noise‑meter shutdown

Local police in Sanxenxo, Pontevedra, sealed a pub on its terrace after the venue ignored a closure order for not being connected to the municipal sound‑meter system. The establishment now faces a fine ranging from €12,000 to €300,000.

The town council said the pub had been notified on 22 July that its activity would be suspended for failing to transmit noise data as required by the local Acoustic Pollution Protection Ordinance. Police carried out the eviction on Thursday evening while twelve tables, fourteen patrons and four wait‑staff were present.

The municipality added that it will continue proceedings against venues that breach the regulation and is advancing the implementation of Special Acoustic Protection Zones in Sanxenxo and nearby Portonovo, which will restrict new licences and limit operating hours for noise‑producing activities.
