Sanxenxo to host world record attempt for largest Spanish tortilla

The Galician family business El Huevo de la Abuela is preparing to attempt a world record for the largest Spanish tortilla in Sanxenxo on September 5. The event is scheduled to coincide with the Feira da Cebola and Santa Rosalía celebrations.

The massive tortilla is planned to be six meters in diameter and weigh 10,000 kilograms. To achieve this, the team will require more than 17,000 eggs, 2,000 kilograms of potatoes, 300 liters of oil, and 30 kilograms of salt. A team of 70 people will use a 75-ton crane to flip the dish.

In honor of the Onion Fair, the tortilla will be prepared in two halves: one with onion and one without. All proceeds from the sale of portions will be donated to soup kitchens and charitable organizations to support social causes.
