Sanz Cid family receives La Posada 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award

The Sanz Cid family of the Dehesa de los Canónigos winery has been awarded the ‘Premio a Toda Una Vida’ (Lifetime Achievement Award) by La Posada for 2026. The winery, located in the Ribera del Duero region, has a history dating back to the mid-19th century following the Mendizábal desamortization.

The estate’s name originates from its first owner, the Cathedral Chapter of Valladolid. Modern history for the winery began in 1967 when Luis Sanz Busto, a former medical student, took over the agricultural operations of his wife María Luz Cid’s family estate. His decision to preserve the property prevented it from being sold, establishing the foundation for the current winery. The family legacy continues through Belén Sanz, the winery’s enologist and technical director.
