Actress Saoirse Ronan has expressed a strong interest in playing a villain in the James Bond franchise. In an interview with Empire, the Irish actress stated, “I want to go dark,” and confirmed her desire to portray a young female antagonist.

Ronan noted that she believes it would be dramatically interesting to see a female villain who channels pent-up anger, providing a different type of character for women and girls to see on screen. She emphasized that she is “dead serious” about her interest in the role.
