Saoirse Ronan stars in dark comedy thriller ‘Bad Apples’

The dark comedy thriller ‘Bad Apples’, directed by Jonatan Etzler, is scheduled for theatrical release by Republic Pictures on September 18, 2026. Based on the novel ‘De Oönskade’ by Rasmus Lindgren, the film stars Saoirse Ronan as Maria Spencer, a primary school teacher in Somerset, England.

The plot follows Maria as she struggles with an unruly ten-year-old student whose behavior threatens her career. Following a series of escalating decisions, Maria accidentally kidnaps the child and locks him in her home. As the child is searched for by authorities, Maria finds herself in a complicated predicament when her classroom begins to flourish and her colleagues and parents express satisfaction with the students' improvement.

The film features a cast including Eddie Waller, Jacob Anderson, Nia Brown, Rakie Ayola, Robert Emms, Sean Gilder, and Kerry Howard. It is written by Jess O’Kane and produced by Pulse Films.
