Saori Sato withdraws resignation from Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly

Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly member Saori Sato has announced the withdrawal of her resignation, which she had declared just one week prior on August 29. In a video posted to her YouTube channel, Sato explained that her initial decision to step down was driven by an incident involving assault against someone close to her and subsequent monetary demands made against her.

Sato stated that she had reached a point where she felt resigning was the only way to resolve the situation. However, after receiving communications from various political figures over the past week, she determined that a path toward resolution had emerged. She noted that she has severed ties with the individual involved to prioritize her political duties and safety.

Prior to this announcement, Sato had already begun the process of vacating her office and returning borrowed items. Her political group, Yachiyo-no-kai, had also planned an indefinite suspension of activities, but is now expected to resume operations. Sato's tenure has previously been marked by disputes with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government regarding the handling of revenues from political activity expenses.
