SAP and Fujitsu advance sovereign AI cloud initiatives in Europe

At SAP's Sapphire 2026 events in Orlando and Madrid, the company unveiled its EU AI Cloud framework, offering four deployment models — SAP data centers, customer data centers, hyperscalers and the new Delos Cloud — to give European customers choice and address digital‑sovereignty concerns about reliance on US and Chinese platforms. At the Fsas Technologies Summit 2026 in Munich, Fujitsu’s European arm presented a strategy centered on sovereign cloud, on‑premises AI and quantum computing, emphasizing vendor‑lock‑in avoidance and resilience to cyber risk. The company outlined a ten‑year plan to expand sovereign capabilities across compute, AI and quantum domains, and argued that data‑center location alone does not guarantee sovereignty, urging systematic risk management and trustworthy partnerships.
