SAP integrates Joule AI assistant into core business systems
SAP is advancing its integration of artificial intelligence to drive the concept of the ‘autonomous enterprise.’ The company has announced the integration of its AI assistant, Joule, into S/4HANA and SuccessFactors systems. Through the SAP Business AI Platform, specialized AI agents aim to automate business processes across finance, procurement, supply chain, and human resources.
In the finance sector, these tools are intended to accelerate financial closings, potentially reducing the process to two days. In human resources, the focus includes time tracking, payroll, and talent analytics. To avoid data silos, Joule operates as a context-aware assistant directly within the application layer, accessing real-time corporate data.
Parallel to these developments, SAP is expanding its ‘Autonomous Suite’ across five core areas: finance, expense management, human resources, customer experience, and supply chain management. The company has also noted the impact of internal AI rollouts, with Joule Work being deployed to its 110,000 employees globally to increase productivity.
In terms of software development, the breakthrough of AI-assisted coding is expected to influence how companies extend SAP systems. This shift supports the ‘Clean Core’ strategy, which encourages businesses to extend functionality without modifying the central system core, thereby ensuring easier upgrades and maintenance.
